I can play two instruments: the Spanish guitar and the Russian balalaika.
I learned guitar by taking lessons many years ago, but the same could not be
said for the balalaika as it is not a very well-known instrument outside of
Eastern Europe, so I ended up having to teach myself how to play based on
watching many YouTube videos I couldn't really understand due to the language
barrier, as well as translating Russian guides I found on the internet.
Most people never know this based on my appearence alone, but I'm half
Indian! My mother is from the northeastern part of India, called Mizoram.
The culture is quite different from the rest of India to the point where
it's practically a different country. My mother's grandfather was one of
the soldiers stationed there during WWII.
One of my favorite hobbies is exploring what the internet looked like
many years ago using tools like archive.org's Wayback Machine. This is a
pretty cool archiving site that saves previous versions of websites that
can be retrieved at will. Using this feature, you can explore what websites
looked like back then and even access websites that no longer exist (granted
they're archived). It adds a completely new layer to exploring the internet.
As someone who likes history and the internet, this is one of my favorite
activities as it's like a sort of archeology that you can do right in the
comfort of your home.
